Overview
This guide outlines the process of joining and managing a live class on Kalpla from the instructor's perspective. Once a live session is started, instructors can access a range of classroom management features to facilitate effective teaching and learner engagement. These features include admitting participants, controlling microphone and camera access, enabling webinar mode, allowing learners to share their screens, recording sessions and monitoring interactions through the Q&A panel. By leveraging these tools, instructors can create an organized, interactive and engaging virtual classroom environment.
1. Select the required class to join
- To join a live class, navigate to the scheduled classes section and click on the desired class. where the option to join the session will be available.
- After selecting the class, the class details page displays various options, including Poll Questions, Start Class, Attendance, Edit, Reschedule and Cancel Class, allowing instructors to manage the live session effectively.
- After selecting the class, click Edit Class to modify the class details. The following information can be updated
- To reschedule a class, click Reschedule. From there, update the following information as needed:
a. Select a new date for the class.
b. Set a new time for the class.
c. Click Confirm Reschedule to save and apply the updated schedule.
2. To begin the class, click Start Class
- To commence the live class, click Start Class This will launch the virtual classroom and begin the live class.
- Once Start Class is clicked, a joining window will appear. Click Join Now to enter the virtual classroom and conduct the live class.
- Upon entering the virtual classroom, participants remain in the waiting room until access is granted by the instructor.
a. The notification banner displays the total number of participants awaiting admission. Click Admit All to grant access to all waiting participants simultaneously.
b. The People panel also allows instructors to manage participant access individually by selecting Admit to allow a participant to join the live class or Reject to deny the admission request.
a. During the live session, various controls are available to manage communication and participation.The microphone can be enabled or disabled to control audio communication, while the camera can be turned on or off as needed. The Raise Hand feature allows participants to request attention or ask questions. Screen sharing can be used to present content during the class, and Webinar Mode can be enabled to provide greater control over participant interactions. If recording is enabled for the session, recordings can be started or stopped as required.
b. Participant microphones can be enabled or disabled to manage classroom communication effectively.
c. Screen-sharing permissions can also be granted or revoked for participants as needed.
a. The Q&A feature allows participants to submit questions during the live session without interrupting the class. Clicking the Q&A icon opens the Q&A panel, where all submitted questions are displayed.
b. Instructors can view, manage and respond to questions directly from this panel, helping to organize discussions and address participant queries efficiently throughout the session.
a. The Chat Panel enables real-time text communication during the live session. Clicking the Chat icon opens the chat window, where participants and instructors can send and receive messages instantly.
b. This feature can be used to share information, ask questions, provide responses and communicate without interrupting the ongoing session.

3. End Call Options
- Clicking the End Call button opens a confirmation window with options to manage how the session is closed.
a. Just Leave: Exits the session for the instructor while allowing the live class to continue for other participants.
b. End Meeting for All: Ends the live session for all participants and closes the class for everyone.
c. Cancel: Closes the confirmation window and returns to the ongoing session without ending or leaving the class.


4. Attendance Management
- To view attendance details, select the live class and click Attendance.
- The attendance panel displays information such as the participant's name, join time, leave time, session duration, attendance percentage, engagement level, and attendance status. Based on each participant's attendance and engagement during the session, the status can be updated as Attended, Partial, or Absent. This helps maintain accurate participation records for the live class.
